Kaiserau – a winter- and summersportregion for the whole family
To the south of Admont at a height of some 1 100 metres above sea level lies a mountain plateau. The charming landscape of the Kaiserau is situated near the Gesäuse National Park and is part of the Reichenstein Group, whose most prominent peak is the pyramid of the 2 196 m high Admont Kalbling. The huge Kaiserau-parkarea can be reached within 10 min by car from Admont and Trieben. In winter and summer alike the Kaiserau is treasured as an Alpine idyll by those looking for recreation or sport. The structure of the Kaiserau is unique both because of its high-lying situation and for its topography.
In Winter the Kaiserau offers a small to medium-sized ski area where children and young people can learn to ski in play. The Kaiserau is part of the “Schneebärenland” – a community of the following ski areas: Loser, Neue Tauplitz, Riesneralm, Planneralm and Kaiserau. Especially for families the Kaiserau is with its three drag lifts and its skiing conveyor interesting. The area is small and due to this fact clearly arranged and well structured. For children a new fun area has been created. In this park beginners can learn skiing with professional help.
The Kaiserau is one of the last affordable ski areas. In the winter season 2011/12 a ticket for adults is available for € 20 and for children for € 14,00. Beside the whole-day-ticket the Kaiserau offers tickets for 2, 3, 4 or 5 hours. A ski school and a renting agency for wintersport-articles are the whole winter season reachable. For those who don’t like alpine sport, the Kaiserau offers a cross-country ski run which is 6 km long as well as some tours for snowshoeing and sliding from the Oberst-Klinke-Hut.
In summer season the Kaiserau offers ideal conditions for sportive tourists. Especially hiker and climber discover a diverse range of activities. A round trip as theme walk on the high-lying plateau explains the history of the Kaiserau. The restaurant Sportalm is offering local cuisine throughout the year.
